This was a week of major personal accomplishments for me in Mexico, starting with 6 days spent in Playa del Carmen getting my PADI Advanced Open Water diving certification, followed by running my first half marathon last night here in Merida.
Both are things that not long ago would have seemed like impossible goals for me, so to knock both of them out in one week is pretty surreal! It’s a reminder that there are so many things that can seem out of reach to us right now, but given a commitment, a plan and little self-delusion (ha!) we are able to accomplish so much more than we think.
I’m feeling really proud of myself but am also thoroughly exhausted. I’m half worried my knees aren’t going to recover from running 13 miles! Luckily, I am spending the next couple of days celebrating Day of the Dead here in Mexico and then heading to Belize for some more diving and hopefully a little RnR.
Hope you have a fantastic week!

Sunset in Playa del Carmen.

School of fish chilling at the Jardines dive site in Playa.

On my first wreck dive at Mama Viña, we were joined by a lurking school of barracuda.

Lovely Playa del Carmen from the dive boat.

My first time seeing a turtle on a dive! I’m hoping it’s just the first of many.
