As you may have noticed, things have started to look a bit different around Adventure A Week. You also may have noticed I’ve been MIA for a while too. The truth is, the last couple of months back to work after my two months in Asia have been difficult for me. I feel like I’ve gotten a taste of the kind of life that I’ve dreamt of living since I was a kid (one of long-term, full-time travel) and I’ve struggled a bit to summon the same excitement for my career I once had. I fell into a slump and stopped making time for adventures outside of work…..which led to even worse of a slump.
After having spent over a year doing my best to do something new and exciting once a week, increasing my happiness and inspiring the people around me, I fell back into the work-sleep-work-sleep-work-sleep-work-drink-sleep cycle that causes the months and years to fly by without much substance or meaning. While I usually love my job, I know all too well that if I don’t actively seek an identity outside of it, I start to loathe the long hours and have a hard time motivating myself out of bed in the morning.
The good news is, I have a plan! And that plan involves re-dedicating myself to my initial goal of finding an adventure every week to break up the monotony. I’m 2 weeks into a 3 week hiatus and then I’m back to work for another 11 months. I plan on saving money while working on developing An Adventure A Week into something more than just a personal blog. I’d love to eventually make this site into a resource for adventure-seekers and breakers-from-the-norm everywhere. But instead of telling you about it, I’ll show you. Keep an eye out in the coming months as I finish over a dozen half-written posts from my escapades in the last year, keep you updated on my weekly adventures (I’ve got some great ones planned!) and even publish my own adventure resources for some of the places I’ve lived and traveled to.
For now, I’ll leave you with a teaser – I’m sitting on a plane somewhere over the gulf of Mexico, headed to Roatan, Honduras for a week-long scuba certification course. Let the adventures unfold!

[…] I’ve written about it briefly on the blog before, but it really is a struggle to find time to go on adventures when I’m working full time. That’s the whole reason for this blog – if it wasn’t difficult to break up the boredom of normal life, I wouldn’t have taken on a quest to do so in the first place. […]
