Greetings from an adorably quaint (read: dingy) internet cafe in San Ignacio, Belize. I’m here because I finally left Caye Caulker on Friday, but my laptop charger loved the island so much it decided to stay behind in my hostel. Sigh….when will I ever learn that that last minute room check before leaving is essential!?
Not surprisingly, there is no Apple store in this small jungle town, so I’m going to have to go an entire week without my laptop until the Brit delivers me a new one on Saturday. I always appreciate a chance to disconnect, but I am sad I’ll be doing without my nightly ritual of downloading my photos and writing about my experiences until then.
But, life could be a lot worse. It is hard to write or even think clearly about anything without my thoughts drifting to Paris and the tragedies the city witnessed last Friday. I like to avoid politics here (and in general) so suffice it to say that my heart is with the people of the City of Light. I pray for peace in a time when there are a handful of horrible people out there seeking to rob the rest of us of all things good in this world.
I hope that wherever you are, you are safe and taking advantage of time with your loved ones and all the gifts life has to offer. You never know when you won’t be able to anymore.
