Greetings from San Cristóbal de las Casas! I arrived here yesterday morning on a bumpy 12-hour overnight bus. This has been a whirlwind week of traveling South from Mexico City. Between wandering the colorful streets of Puebla and Oaxaca to exploring ruins and natural wonders in the countryside, I’ve hardly had a moment catch my breath!
Traveling with this tour group has been a blast. There are 13 of us from all over the world – Australia, New Zealand, England, Peru, Canada and the US (just me!). It’s a great group of people with lots of diverse interests, and we’ve all been so excited by what we’ve seen in Mexico so far. Every town has had such bright character and warmth. And the food continues to be phenomenal, of course!
I’m here in San Cristóbal for another night, then we head to Palenque, Merida, and finally to Playa del Carmen next weekend, so even more Mexican excitement is on the way. And it’s a good thing too – I still haven’t eaten enough tacos.
