This has been a quiet week for both me and the blog as I spent the Thanksgiving holiday relaxing on the beach here in Tulum with the Brit. While we did manage a bit of snorkeling and a trip to the nearby town of Valladolid, for the most part we did a whole lotta nothin’….which is exactly what we’d planned.
As much as I loved spending time with my favorite fog-breathing redcoat (an affectionate term), it was hard being away from my family on one of my favorite holidays. I made a promise to my mom I wouldn’t miss the Texas-sized turkey dinner and annual thrashing of our beloved Cowboys again, if I can help it.
As for the bull shark dive we’d wanted to do – the weather didn’t cooperate and all of our planned dives were cancelled due to rain and winds. I’ll have look certain death (over-dramatization) in the eyes another time.
It’s back to adventuring this week as I head to southern Guatemala in the morning for my last two weeks in Central America. I can’t wait to churn out more posts and re-focus on my task: seeking out adventure and pushing myself out of my comfort zone! I’m already looking into booking my first paragliding trip in Panajachel. Mom, pretend you didn’t read that.
Have a fantastic week!

A gorgeous old church in Valladolid. I’m glad we ventured inland to see this pretty town.

The Tulum ruins on the beach. Not a bad location, you think? Those Mayans sure could pick the spots.

An iguana peeks out of a hole in the Tulum ruins.

The reef near Akumal, a fantastic place to snorkel from shore. We liked it so much, went back a second time yesterday!

Watching the sunrise on the beach in front of our hotel this morning. We kept trying to get up early enough to watch one, and finally managed on our last day here!
