If last week was dedicated to crushing some serious personal goals and embracing my inner over-achiever, this week was the exact opposite. As soon as I reached Caye Caulker here in glorious Belize, I eagerly embraced the island’s motto: Go slow, mon!
And that’s exactly what I’ve done. After nursing my legs back to health after my first ever half marathon, I spent the rest of the week drinking the local Belikin beer, soaking in the crystal clear turquoise waters, and eating as much lobster as my body will allow!
On Thursday, my parents arrived for a fantastic three days to celebrate my stepdad Gordon’s 50th birthday. The highlight of our weekend was a snorkeling trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, where we swam with turtles, rays, an incredible assortment of reef fish and dozens of sharks! More to come later on that perfect day.
I’m was so sad to say goodbye to the ‘rents today, but I’m consoled by the fact that I’m spending another five days here in paradise before heading back to the mainland. And on Tuesday, I’m crossing off another major bucket list item – diving the Blue Hole! I can barely contain my excitement.
Have a fantastic week!
