Greetings, folks!
It’s been a while since I last updated, but it most definitely was NOT for lack of adventure in my life! The last post I wrote was about how my current job has been an adventure, and the last six months have proved that to be undeniably true. I’ve been mostly on the road, traveling through the Midwest and Southern California working more than 80 hours a week. With what little free time I have, I’ve still been committed to seeking out adventure – a hike in the Smoky Mountains, visiting the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, and finally attending a home game at the Dallas Cowboys’ home stadium – but I’ve also been planning something.
Something…..BIG!
I’m finished with my current job in March, and then I’m heading out on the journey of a lifetime. I’m taking two months off and heading to Asia to do a lot of traveling – we are talking an adventure a DAY! It’s something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time and I finally decided to make it happen. I couldn’t sit around waiting for the right time or plenty of money in my bank account or for people to go with – if I wanted to go, I had to make it happen myself. So about 6 months ago I booked the flights to China (using miles, so it was nearly free!) and then I started to save money.
Life is always a bit more exciting when you have something to look forward to. That is something I live by with my weekly challenge of maintaining a sense of adventure in my life, but this is something else entirely. I think about my trip daily and I can’t wait for it get here. I’m constantly day dreaming about my upcoming incredible adventures in China, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. And now that I’m on the road for work for another 7 weeks, I’ve even moved out of my apartment and put everything I own in a 10×10 foot storage unit in LA. It’s all coming together, and I leave in March.
Sometimes we need an adventure of epic proportions to give us the new perspective we need to shove us back on track in life.
And mine starts in 53 days.
